Liverpool 0-2 Arsenal 1992-93
One of the first Premier League matches shown live on Sky Sports. Arsenal were in need of a boost - they had lost their first two fixtures, making this their worst start to a league campaign in 38 years. Meanwhile, things were not going according to plan for Graeme Souness as Liverpool manager. Martin Tyler and Andy Gray are the commentators.

Просмотров 108 тыс.10 лет назад
They said it could not be done. But Arsenal just needed to avoid defeat against Leicester on the final day of the 2003-04 season to remain undefeated for the whole league campaign - a feat not achieved in the English top flight since Preston in 1888-89. Alan Parry and Brian Marwood were in the commentary box.
Arsenal 2-1 (aet) Wigan, League Cup S/F 2006
Просмотров 42 тыс.10 лет назад
A famous night in the history of Wigan Athletic, as they looked to reach their first major cup final. The Latics held a slender 1-0 advantage from the first leg of the semi-final, going into the return match at Highbury. And the omens were on their side: they had yet to concede a goal in the 2005-06 League Cup, plus Arsenal had been knocked out of the competition at this stage on their last thr...
Liverpool 3-0 Arsenal 1978-79
Просмотров 70 тыс.11 лет назад
Only days before this game, old rivals Manchester United had ended Liverpool's chances of the Double with victory in their FA Cup semi-final tie. So, the Reds were left to concentrate on the league. They had only lost one of their last seven matches against the Gunners - however, that one defeat did come in the previous meeting between the sides at Highbury earlier in the season. Gerald Sinstad...
Liverpool 4-1 Birmingham City 1976-77

Liverpool led the way at the top of the First Division as Birmingham travelled to Anfield in February 1977. But the Reds were only one point ahead of second-placed Ipswich, having also played three games more. So, a win here would be a welcome boost. Birmingham had Trevor Francis and Howard Kendall in their side and had beaten Liverpool at St Andrew's earlier in the season. Gerald Sinstadt comm...
Liverpool 4-2 Ipswich 1973-74 (Keegan hat-trick)
Просмотров 85 тыс.11 лет назад
This was Kevin Keegan's first and (perhaps surprisingly) only hat-trick while playing for Liverpool. Bobby Robson meanwhile was starting to turn Ipswich into a force in English football. But their record against Liverpool was poor - the Tractor Boys had won just one of their last 15 meetings with the Reds and had never triumphed at Anfield. Gerald Sinstadt watched the action.
Liverpool 3-2 Leicester City 1971-72

Kevin Keegan was making just his fifth appearance for Liverpool when Leicester visited Anfield in August 1971. The Foxes meanwhile were back in the top flight after a two-year absence, and could boast Peter Shilton amongst their number. Liverpool had put three goals past both Nottingham Forest and Wolves in their first two home games, and they would repeat the trick here. Gerald Sinstadt commen...
Liverpool 0-1 Norwich 1993-94 (The Kop's last stand)
Просмотров 18 тыс.11 лет назад
This was the last game to be played in front of Anfield's Spion Kop before its redevelopment into an all-seater stand to comply with the recommendations of the Taylor Report. Of course, emotions were running high and the visitors on that day, Norwich, sportingly conceded the choice of ends to their hosts, allowing Liverpool to attack the Kop end in the second half. Martin Tyler is the commentator.
England 0-2 France, International Friendly 1999

Howard Wilkinson was England's temporary manager for this game with France, following Glenn Hoddle's dismissal for his comments about disabled people eight days before. This was Wilkinson's chance to stake his claim to be put in permanent charge. But his task was a difficult one - France were the reigning world champions and on a 16-match unbeaten run. Gary Bloom commentates.
Arsenal 2-0 Newcastle, League Cup 1996 (Bruce Rioch v Terry McDermott)

A Coca-Cola Cup quarter-final that exploded into life in the second half when David Ginola was sent off for elbowing Lee Dixon. This led to a touchline fracas, with police and stewards having to separate Arsenal manager Bruce Rioch and Newcastle assistant Terry McDermott, as the pair squared up to each other. Brian Moore and Ron Atkinson watched the mayhem unfold.

A place in the Carling Cup final was at stake when Arsenal and Tottenham met at the Emirates in 2007. Arsenal were the favourites, having recovered from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw in the first leg. The Gunners were aiming to reach their first League Cup final under Arsene Wenger; Spurs meanwhile wanted to become the first visiting team to win at the Emirates. Jon Champion and Jim Beglin ...

Gianluca Vialli faced a tough task in his first game as Chelsea player-manager. To reach the League Cup final, his side had to overturn a 2-1 deficit from the first leg of their semi-final with Arsenal, a team that were on a 12-match unbeaten run. It was a game that saw nine bookings, one red card and four goals, including one wonder strike by Roberto Di Matteo. Brian Moore is the commentator.
Chelsea 1-0 Manchester United 2004-05 (Mourinho's first game)

Finishing runners-up in the league and reaching the semi-finals of Europe's top competition the season before had not been enough to save Claudio Ranieri's job as Chelsea manager. It was trophies that the club wanted and so Jose Mourinho was drafted in as the Italian's replacement. His first outing was against Manchester United, a team that had not lost on the opening day of the season for eigh...

Like this game, the two previous League Cup ties between these sides had come at the fourth round stage and both had been won by Chelsea. The hosts were unbeaten in their last eight games and had triumphed in their last five at Stamford Bridge. But, in the opposition line-up was Wayne Rooney, making only his fifth start for the Toffees. Jon Champion commentates.

Im an everton fan so wouldnt usually watch a liverpool video, the reason i love this game is howard gayle was my football manager from 12 years old to 24 at both our local amateur team in toxteth Stanley House and liverpool school boys, ive seen the full match of this and he was amazing, the guy is a hero of mine and i class him as a close friend, the amount of good he done in the inner city parts of South liverpool, toxteth and Wavertree can never be undersated, he kept hundreds of kids off the streets in one of the most deprived and crime ridden, gang areas in the whole of Europe at the time, the man is an absolute diamond of a fella and behind my dad and uncle the biggest male role model in my life
Utd defender Martin Buchan said he never forgot the look on Denis Law’s face after scoring, “I thought you were suppose to be happy after scoring a goal” Denis looked liked he committed an unforgivable crime.
Funny when england fans act like that we get branded hooligans
United will win the premier league in 2043
Nice
IF I AM NOT WRONG, THAT SCOTTISH NATIONAL TEAM WIN, WAS A QUALIFIER WIN FOR 1978 ARGENTINA WORLD CUP.
my bouys name was there great day 🎉
RIP KC.
Backed in if you wanted a spot in the European cup, you had to win the league or win the whole thing which Liverpool had done the season before.
Pure entertainment from this chelsea team.
Were the English commentators biased . Of course not lol
Man Liverpool just dominated the League Cup winning 4 in a row. That's how dominant Liverpool was especially in the league when it came to the 1970's and 80's.
Bring back those games proper football with passionont fans 👏🇬🇧👏
Zola! What a free kick!
Was this at hamden park? Where's all the English? Its like a home game for Scotland.
Fuck'in Jock hooligans. Send back across the border!!
The intensity and skills showed in this game makes clear that teams before were not a bunch of weak skinny dudes trying to kick a ball while walking on the field, Is clear that football at this time level is very comparable to today's football. Consider that any modern team would easily beat a team from this time is a falacy. Being someone that born in this modern era does not prohibit me to see the things deeply. Considering the ball in this time (70s) were heavier, also clothing and shoes, this old players demonstrates that today football is not a superior and highest peak ever touched in this sport in terms of level. I assume that mayority of viewers here believes something similar.
Beardsley is one of my all-time greats for Liverpool ❤
RIP Kevin Campbell
Robert Pirès 🇨🇵 Patrick Vieira 🇨🇵 Sylvain WiLToRD 🤭 Gilles Grimandi and and and and and Thierry HENRY ❤❤❤❤❤ WITH Arsène WENGER coach

RIP Kevin Campbell
One game away from being Invincibles. We should’ve had a penalty for that hand ball in the first half. No surprise after Bould went off injured we conceded, he was superb that season.
Bring back the auld enemy games.
Denis Law was a City legend.
Goal of the the century 😂😂😂
See winning at home 2 0 in the first leg now its a great result but then 2 0 wasnt enuff as proved lost 2nd leg 3 0 69 we won 3 0 lost 3nd 3 0 won on the toss off a coin
And this was after losing 5-0 to Newcastle. United was still able to win the league after they're bad forms.
The real man utd here
Proper game a real mans game not any more with thease shitty lil players we have today theres no comparison
Wonderful to watch football iam so sad it is not the same game today
4:43 “Beckham, in to Sherringham. And Solskjaer’s won it!” Similar sort of goal anyway ;) Except Ole Gunnar didn’t go sommersaulting into the net like Keeegan did, heh
Would loved to have seen the aberdeen team that beat real madrid and bayern Munich in 83 play Liverpool
When I was 16 in Summer 1978 stayed with a French family (exchange). The boy was a St Etienne supporter, but he admired Liverpool. I told him about Nottingham Forest ( he hadn’t heard of them). I said that Forest were as good as Liverpool and would potentially win The European Cup 78/79. Of course they beat Liverpool in The European Cup and won It the following May! What a prediction!!!!
The sad thing is that now, 40-years later, we haven’t ever had a better 11
Dalglish had a shockingly bad game by his earlier standards.
Αυθεντικό ποδόσφαιρο
I remember watching this game
This was the highlights of the game played 3 weeks later after the death of 96 in the hiilsborough disaster in 1989.
Just beautiful
Toshack dived.
If anyone's here prior to the start of the Euro 24 tournament... here's a question for you. I think, before I start, that Steve Clarke's done a great job of getting to Germany, but... if you could have three Scottish players from this era to add to the modern squad, who would they be?
NICHOLA STURGEON PLAY FOR MAN UTD ???
Liverpool is a machine up to date
This was the game that put liverpool in the wilderness for 15 years, Fergie wanted liverpool knocked of there perch,
Kopite killers...fucked it up 4 everyone
Back when players could actually leather a football (Graeme Sharp excepted) not like the weak, pass back to the keeper shots you get today. Players can't shoot in the game today.
6ellow and green. Oldest colours in football. Cheers Adrian. Bless
